Hi I'm Bill and I served in HMS Cowslip from late Jan 1943 to july 1944. After commissioning in Hull we worked up in Tobermory before operating in the N. Atlantic firstly from Greenock and then from Londonderry. I have checked out escort groups and convoy histories for any info re Cowslip but without success. I would be most appreciative of any info regarding Cowslip's movements during the period Feb to May 1943.

Thought you would like to know that a DVD has just been released of the WW2 River Class Frigate HMAS Diamantina (1) Pennant number K377. She is the last WW2 River Class left and is on display at the Queensland Maritime Museum Brisbane Queensland Australia.

Thanks to Graham Beckett for sending through these images taken by his grandfather Eric Cecil George Castle, who served on HMS Loosestrife.
Many of these ships were part of Escort Group B7 (Duncan, Vidette, Tay, Sunflower, Snowflake, Loosestrife, Pink, Northern Gem, Northern Spray) operating in the North Atlantic.

Hi,

As I posted some pics on Captain Browns thread, I thought I would start my own thread concerning my own build. After seeing the pictures of her on this forum, I decided to modify my Revell flower kit to resemble cloesly to HMS Campion after her 1942 refit. I liked the idea of the added AA guns on the side, and the colur scheme is distinctive.

Just a quick heads-up for everyone that a new four-part series called Atlantic Convoys: The War at Sea will start at 6.45pm on Channel 4 in the UK on Sunday 30/8/09. The programme is an hour long and takes a chronological look at the North Atlantic convoy system. There will be many first hand accounts from veterans and I suspect there will be quite a lot of coverage for the corvettes. For more info. have a look at the Channel 4 website here

At this years Rideau Nautical Modellers regatta in Ottawa I ran my 1:48th HMCS Wetaskiwin with another members HMCS Sackville also in 1:48th scale. We had HMCS Athabaskan join us its in 1:72 but still makes a neat site having the three together.

I'm currently putting together some illustrations of Wetaskiwin and I would like to know what colours she was painted around the time she helped sink U-588. I know she was short foc'sle and still had the mast fore of the bridge but at the water line and dazzle on the hull I only have B&W photos to work off of . If anyone could give me some idea, it would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies if this has been posted before, but a certain Max Shean died recently and on reading his obituary in the Telegraph it stated he served on HMS Bluebell before becoming a submariner on X boats. He wrote about his exploits in 'Corvette and Submarine' and after a search on the net I managed to track it down to the Submarine Museum in Gosport, looks a good read with some personal photos, including Max painting the pennant number K80 on the stern!
