        <![CDATA[ I have 2 questions, that I'd be grateful of guidance on:1) I have seen an image of HMS Geranium (and others) where the sides of the hulls are &quot;cut down&quot; just in front of the bridge structure. Other Flowers, eg Coreopsis as Compass Rose, have this at the funnel. Was this two different designs or was this due to alterations, and if so, what were these differences?2) When the focsle's were extended, can you say precisly what was done, and by what distance were they extended?Many... ]]>

Was not Bryony&#39;s focsle longer than the average? I seem to recall this was because of her chequered building history. In many ships it seems to end just
forrard of the funnel. There were also oddities - Gloxinia and I think Delphinium and maybe Narcissus retained the original focsle and had the hull built up
amidships, with a shelter deck between the two sections.

			<description><![CDATA[ Edward...<br><br>The original Smith's Dock whaler design which became the flower class corvette had the fo'c'sle end at the back of the 4 inch gun platform.  <br><br>As use of the corvettes moved from inshore ship protection to oceanic convoy duty, it became plain that an extended fo'c'sle was necessary to make them more seaworthy.  Most of the original ships were retrofitted, however, the work was done in so many different yards around the globe, they may not have been entirely standard...... ]]></description>
