Anyone looking for an NTSC DVD copy can find them here; www.raremovieimports.com/cruelsea.html . Mine recently arrived within five business days and the quality is excellent. A couple of points to be aware of. 1. be prepared to use PayPal if the RMI direct payment option is not working. 2. These copies are imported from Korea, so some of the small print on the back cover is not in english.

Alot easier to get this now
Amazon.ca has this available for pre-order, to be released Oct 17, for $11.89Can, Indigo has it for $16.98. This can be had right now as part of the British War collection for about $96, it includes 'Dam Busters', 'Colditz Story', 'The Day Went Well?', and 'The ship that died of Shame' For myself, I'm holding out for Dam Busters and The Cruel Sea by themselves |

The Dam Busters was recently on History Television. Sometimes if you check the sched, The Cruel Sea will show up as well as some other notables.

Yep, noticed that it was on
Movies of a naval theme are prtty much limited to Midway and Tora Tora Tora on History Channel I've found, or maybe I'm not paying much attention... Don't think I have even seen Das Boat listed in a long time, other than from my own dvd collection |

One may want to try their local library for a copy of the film. For instance, it is available in VHS format from the Broward County Public Library in Broward
County, Florida. If it is available here, it just may be available in other public libraries.

Checked out the DVD from the local library. Some good shots of a Castle Class corvette. Which one is it? I have not heard anything about that vessel. Sort of
like having a supporting role. I really like the shots at sea on both vessels.

Hi Jay
The Castle Class Corvette in the film The Cruel Sea was played by the real HMS Porchester Castle. See the thread here http://theflowerclasscorvetteforums.yuku.com/topic/575 for more info. on the film and HMS Coreopsis (scroll all the way down for all the images and more replies at the bottom. Pictures of Porchester Castle are in the Castle Class Corvette forum. Cheers Mark |
