Poppy Placing at the Battle of the Atlantic Memorial
LONDON (Ont.) – You are invited to attend the placing of poppies at the Battle of the Atlantic Memorial located at Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Prevost in London, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 28.
When: Sunday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m.
Where: HMCS Prevost, 19 Becher St., London, Ont.
The memorial is a series of 25 granite stones placed along a hillside at HMCS PREVOST, London’s Naval Reserve Division. Each stone is inscribed with the name of a Royal Canadian Navy Ship which was lost in the Battle of the Atlantic during WWII. There is also a stone for the Merchant Navy.
Each stone represents a different ship, and each poppy placed alongside that stone represents a life lost with that ship. Over 1200 Veterans poppies will be placed in memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice.
